Job Summary:
Preparing complete cost of estimation for MEP/Facility elements which includes; material, labor, erection equipment’s, testing / commissioning man hours, direct & indirect resources in line with BOQ, scope of work, project specifications & standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for MEP systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Perform quantity takeoffs for MEP components from drawings and specifications.
- Bid Preparation:
- Develop and prepare bid proposals for MEP projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for bid submissions.
- Ensure compliance with bid requirements and deadlines.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination:
- Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain the best pricing and terms.
- Budget Management:
- Assist in the preparation of project budgets and cost control measures.
- Monitor project costs to ensure alignment with budgets and estimates.
- Technical Analysis:
- Provide technical support and expertise during the pre-construction phase.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and project costs.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on estimation activities and project financials.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in project meetings to discuss estimation-related matters.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in MEP estimation.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in MEP estimation within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in estimation software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, Estimation software).
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Working Conditions:
- The MEP Estimation Engineer typically works in an office environment but may also visit construction sites as needed. This role requires a high level of collaboration with various departments and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
